Opportunity Pitch (DUE BY NOON TUESDAY)
- Due Nov 8, 2011 by 12:01pm
- Points 5
- Submitting a file upload
NOTE THE TIME THIS IS DUE! (NOON TUESDAY)
Consider the Darwinator voting data for the opportunities you identified. Based on that data, your own beliefs and passions, and any additional investigation you have done, select one opportunity to pitch to the group in class today. THIS OPPORTUNITY MUST BE ONE THAT YOU IDENTIFIED UNLESS YOU OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM A CLASSMATE TO USE THEIRS (which is fine with prior approval from the originator). Please use one of the two methods described in T&U Chapter 4 p. 4-7 through 4-10 (e.g., screening based on criteria or RWW) as part of the process for selecting an opportunity.
Prepare a 60-second pitch and a single powerpoint slide for one opportunity. (The nice thing about a 60-second pitch is that you can practice it 10 times in 10 minutes. Please do.) You will have exactly 60 seconds to describe your opportunity to your classmates. If this opportunity is one that you have been working on prior to the beginning of this class, please simply disclose this fact to the class and briefly indicate where you are in the process of developing the opportunity.

TURN IN HERE your single slide in Powerpoint format. Please avoid video and animation as these are sometimes lost when we combine the slides into an integrated deck. Make absolutely sure your name is on the slide, as we use these in paper form for voting in class. Again, one slide in powerpoint format, no animation/video, and with your name on the slide.
Additional Information on Team Formation and Next Steps (FYI only):
After the individual pitches, you will "sticker-vote" on the quality of the pitches you have heard. This vote should inform you as to which opportunities are most promising. Based on this information and your own preferences, you will form teams of two around the most highly rated opportunities. The milestone you are working towards next is a "concept pitch" a week from today. The maximum team size is two. If there is an odd number of students, we'll have one team of one. The defining organizational unit after today is THE TEAM and not the opportunity. You may pursue any opportunity you or your partner articulated via the Darwinator and/or pitched. You may also abandon these opportunities and pick some new opportunity. (Remember the "whirlpool" model of innovation is fairly typical, so don't panic if you feel you really should abandon your original opportunity for a better prospect.)
