This is a team assignment. Create an assembly drawing of your product.
If you do a Google image search on "assembly drawing" you'll get some examples of what an assembly drawing looks like. The main purpose of this drawing is to show others the details of your design. However, how you make the drawing isn't important as long as it shows the design. Indeed, a nice hand sketch is also fine if you do a nice job scanning it.
Unlike the previous Schematic Design Assignment, this drawing should reflect how you will MANUFACTURE your product at a large scale. If you are unsure how you would manufacture your product, look at the "Lecture" that is part of the Manufacturing Processes assignment Download "Lecture" that is part of the Manufacturing Processes assignment. How you would manufacture your product may be different than how you intend to prototype your product. This drawing should not be of the way you intend to make your prototype.
You must also turn in a Bill of Materials or BOM. The BOM is simply a list of every part that will be in the production version of your product. It includes everything (except, for our purposes, we'll exclude packaging and instructions). On the BOM, indicate for each part, whether it will be a custom part or a "catalog" item. A custom component is anything that may be injection molding, cut, milled, etc. A catalog item is anything you may purchase (from a catalog) that you will use unaltered in your product - screws, magnets, etc. are common examples of catalog items.
Each component shown in your assembly drawing should be listed in your BOM, and be labeled accordingly. Meaning, I should be able to look at your assembly drawing and easily connect it to a line item in your BOM.
Submit to this assignment:
- A nice clear document of your assembly drawing.
- A Bill of Materials
