Student Employment at Penn

For many Penn students, working part time can be an important part of their college journey.  On-Campus jobs are a great way to learn professional skills, find mentors, build relationships with peers, faculty, or staff, and generate income.  Essential information for students interested in these opportunities is below!

Whether you have a work-study award as part of your financial aid package or you are simply looking for work opportunities to supplement your income during the academic year, the Student Employment Office has resources to support your job search and any issues that come up while working.

 

Understanding options for Student Employment

Each type of role has specific policies and eligibility 

Penn/Federal Work-Study International Student Work-Study Non-Workstudy
Work-Study is a financial aid program. If you are eligible for a work-study award, it will be listed on your financial aid statement

 

Find jobs on campus! 

  • Contact Departments Directly 
    • If you know that you have an interest in working with a particular place (Ex: residence life, athletics, cultural centers, library, etc), check out their websites to see if they have a particular application process. If not, you can contact their staff directly. 
  • Search for Jobs in Workday!
    • Students can also view and apply for jobs in Workday. The majority of these jobs are available to students with work-study awards, but some departments will also post non-work-study jobs here.

 

Follow these simple steps:

 

  1. Log in to Workday@Penn Links to an external site.
  2. Under Announcements select “Access Student Recruitment”
  3. When the popup window appears, click the button “Access Student Recruiting”
  4. Search for available positions

Essential Information for potential Student Employees

Required Processes & Paperwork:

Should you be chosen for an on campus job, you will be responsible for completing hiring paperwork.  To do so, you will be required to present specific documents such as a Social Security Card or Passport (Originals, not copies).  Therefore if you believe that on campus work is part of your plan, Pack these items!
